Flying Pole Has Arrived: Experience the Ultimate Aerial Fusion in North Miami Beach
If you have been looking for a way to elevate your fitness routine, quite literally, Cirque Art Studio in North Miami Beach has an exciting announcement that will take your training off the ground. We are thrilled to introduce a brand-new discipline to our schedule: Flying Pole Combos with Izabela.
Starting January 5, 2026, we are inviting our community to experience the exhilarating blend of pole fitness and aerial arts. Whether you are a seasoned poler looking to add a new dimension to your flow or a complete beginner ready to build strength in a fun, supportive environment, this is your moment to fly.
What is Flying Pole?
For those unfamiliar with this dynamic apparatus, imagine the perfect marriage between a traditional vertical pole and aerial silks. Unlike a standard dance pole, which is fixed to the floor and ceiling, a flying pole is suspended from the ceiling, hovering slightly above the ground.
This suspension allows the pole to swing, spin, and orbit, adding an entirely new layer of complexity and freedom to your movement. It creates a sensation similar to the Chinese Pole seen in major circus productions but adapted for a studio setting where flow and dance take center stage.
The magic of flying pole lies in the pendulum and orbital movements. You aren’t just moving around a static object; you are partnering with an apparatus that moves with you. This requires, and builds, incredible core stability, spatial awareness, and upper body strength, all while providing the sensation of flight that aerialists love.
Class Options Designed for Your Journey
We believe in progressive learning that prioritizes safety and technique. That is why we are launching with two distinct class options designed to help you build a strong foundation before mastering complex aerial sequences.
1. Flying Pole – Basics & Technique
- When: Mondays at 7:00 PM / Wednesdays at 11:00 AM
- Focus: Foundation, Safety, Mechanics
This class is the perfect entry point. If you have never touched a flying pole before, or if you want to refine your understanding of the physics involved, this is where you start.
In Basics & Technique, we focus heavily on the correct and safe execution of essential figures. Flying pole introduces unique forces, specifically centrifugal force, that you don’t experience on a static pole. Learning how to harness this force rather than fight it is key to efficient movement.
Your instructor will guide you through:
- Controlled Spinning: Learning to manage the speed of your rotation without getting dizzy or losing control.
- Pendulum & Orbital Movements: Mastering the sway of the pole to create momentum for climbs and poses.
- Essential Basic Figures: Building the shapes that will eventually form the building blocks of your combos.
This class is perfect for building the “flying confidence” needed to execute harder tricks later on.
2. Flying Pole – Combos (Open Level)
- When: Mondays at 8:00 PM / Wednesdays at 12:00 PM
- Focus: Flow, Transitions, Movement Quality
Once you have the basics down, it’s time to find your flow. The Combos class is a dynamic, open-level session focused on smooth transitions and artistic expression.
Here, we move beyond individual tricks and start linking movements together. You will explore accessible spinning combos and short sequences designed to improve your lines and overall movement quality. The goal is to make the difficult look effortless.
Because this is an open-level class, our instructor, Izabela (@izzy_cat), will provide progressions and regressions for every student. Whether you are working on your first invert or perfecting a complex transition, the combos can be adjusted to your current strength and skill level.
Meet Your Instructor: Izabela
We are incredibly excited to have Izabela leading this program. Her approach is rooted in three pillars: Strength, Flow, and Control.
Flying pole can be intimidating because of the added element of motion. Izabela’s teaching style emphasizes control, ensuring that you understand why a movement works, not just how to do it. Her expertise in flow will help you shed the “robot” feeling of moving from trick to trick, helping you develop the grace and fluidity that makes aerial arts so mesmerizing to watch.
Why You Should Try Flying Pole
If you are already taking aerial silks, lyra, or static pole classes, you might be wondering if you really need to add another apparatus to your repertoire. The answer is a resounding yes! Here is why flying pole is a game-changer for your fitness:
1. Unmatched Core Engagement
On a static pole, the floor provides stability. On a flying pole, you are the stabilizer. Every climb, invert, and sit requires you to engage your deep abdominal muscles to keep the pole steady (or to keep it spinning smoothly). It is one of the most effective core workouts available.
2. Improved Grip and Upper Body Strength
Because the pole is free-hanging, maintaining your grip while the pole swings requires dynamic strength. You will notice your forearms, shoulders, and lats becoming significantly stronger, which translates beautifully to other aerial disciplines like silks or trapeze.
3. It’s Pure Fun
There is a childhood joy in swinging that never really goes away. Flying pole taps into that sense of play. You are spinning, swinging, and climbing all at once. It is a workout that feels like a performance, making the hour fly by (pun intended).
