Our Mixed Aerial class is the perfect class for aerialists of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced level students. We are unique from other studios because we do not have separate classes for skill levels or different apparatuses. Instead, we teach silks, lyra, trapeze and hammock in one class so that you can learn and grow as a circus student faster.

Below are answers to frequently asked questions that will help you prepare for a wonderful first Mixed Aerial Class.

What should I wear to aerial class?

Dos…

  1. Wear clothing that does not restrict your range of motion (think about yoga pants, tank tops and fitness jumpsuits).
  2. Consider trapeze boots or ankle supports for the hard apparatuses (trapeze and lyra) for extra support and comfort.
  3. Consider back warmers to help you stay bendy and provide extra coverage.
  4. Bring layers to help you stay prepared and comfortable for any skill you might learn!

Don’ts…

  1. Do not wear shoes on the black carpet area of the studio.
  2. Do not wear clothes that hinder your range of motion or are too loose because they can get tangled in the apparatus.
  3. Do not wear jewelry that can get caught in the apparatus, such long dangling earrings.
  4. Do not wear socks, it makes climbing difficult.

How long is the Mixed Aerial class and how is it structured?

The Mixed Aerial class is set for an hour, but do not be surprised if we often go over time. At Cirque Art Studio, we want to make sure our students feel successful in their progress and encourage them to keep trying and perfecting their techniques.

We start class with a mini flexibility warm-up session covering splits and backbends. We then have students go to their apparatus and work at their pace while the instructors will go from student to student to demo moves and spot students firsthand. Finally, we end the class with an ab workout cool down.

Do I need any prior skills or experience to join the Mixed Aerial class?

No, the Mixed Aerial Class is truly beginner friendly. We typically start brand new students with silks or hammock. We start everything low and give you direct guidance. But, as a newbie, you will still get to learn cool moves and even drops early on; because we hold you and guide you, we can progress you through moves other studios would consider “intermediate” quickly!
